Hello, I'm Mahak
Research-Driven Textile & Material Storyteller

...driven by material research, craft knowledge, and textile storytelling.

As a Textile Designer, my practice sits at the intersection of craft, material storytelling, and contemporary textile innovation. I operate at the intersection of art and design, bringing together material exploration, artisanal knowledge and thoughtful textile experimentation.

I am deeply drawn to how traditional crafts preserve cultural heritage through the hands of artisans—carrying generational wisdom, cultural memory, and a human touch that machines can never replicate. For me, craft is not just a method but a vessel of identity, sustainability, and resilience, offering pathways to reinterpret heritage for today’s design contexts.

My creative philosophy draws from psychological landscapes, personal archives, and everyday hidden narratives. As a young design thinker, I thrive in environments that value experimentation, sensitive collaboration with artisans, and a thoughtful balance between tradition and modernity.

I graduated from National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Mumbai (India) with a specialisation in Textile Design, and since then, I’ve worked across collection development, surface R&D, textile illustration (hand-drawn and digital), craft-led embellishment, luxury design, communication, and design execution. I continue to seek opportunities to collaborate with pioneering studios, craft-led ateliers, and interdisciplinary spaces that honour craftsmanship while pushing textile innovation forward.
