The Mountmellick Embroidery: A Rare Irish Textile
Mountmellick Embroidery from Ireland, a rare white-on-white embroidery dating back to the late 1700s. I have contemporized the embroidery, keeping its distinct features intact, and designed hand-embroidered white wedding hand-gloves.
I contemporized the silhouettes and forms of motifs, but the emphasis was on textures. Initially, it was done on cotton fabric to make it more durable but I tried doing it on net fabric which gave it a very delicate look.
